Overview

Our Lady of the Rose is a nunnery guarded by stone guardians. Here we find Gabriele Deschain. She is trying to redeem herself. Sorrowfully she works on a loom crying. She is called to a friar who has come to hear her final confession.

Cort learns of Aileen's stealing a gun from the armory and he yells at her for being such a boy. She wants to be a gunslinger like her Uncle Cort taught her. Ultimately Cort leaves the decision up to Gan and Steven Deschain upon his return.

Charles is still alive and he rides with the gunslingers. Steven and Charles speak of Charles' pregnant wife and Gabriele Deschains' sins.

The Sister directs Gabriele in to a hall to make confession. There Gabriele admits to her adultery and the cloaked figure asks if she love the other man. Gabriele admits she did love him. Marten revealed himself as the friar.

Cuthbert and Alain discuss the jealousy of the other potential gunslingers. They decide to take the pink grapefruit away from Roland and give it to his father.

Roland hasn't eaten nor had any water. He is emaciated as he clings to the pink grapefruit. Roland sees Rea of the Coos coming toward Gilead flying on a spider. She is covered in sores and lesions. Roland sees Rea slip up upon his father, strangle him and cut his head off.
